Pirch IRC Client

Pirch is an IRC client for Windows 95/98/NT and Win 3.X. It is versatile, easy to learn and offers a wide variety of options. To obtain a copy of Pirch, go here.
  1. After you have downloaded Pirch, you can run the executable program which will install Pirch into your computer.
  2. You should then connect into Self-Service America through your TCP/IP connection.
  3. Once connected, you can run Pirch by finding the Pirch icon. It will be in the Start Menu under Programs and then Pirch. Click on the Pirch icon to start.

  4.

  5. Pirch has various Networks and and Servers available for you to try out. The decision, however, is up to you. Some servers are faster then others. Some Networks are larger than others.
  6. You will want to put your name next to name, or whatever you want your name to appear as.
  7. Your e-mail should be your full e-mail address at Self-Service America.
  8. For nicknames, you can make those whatever you want. If someone else has the same nickname, and your alternate nickname is also taken, you will be asked to choose another nickname.
  9. Check off the box that says Auto Connect. This will connect you to the server as soon as you click on Connect.
  10. After you have decided on everything, you will want to click on Connect.

  11.
You will want to make sure you read the Message Of The Day when you connect to the server.

  12. After you are connected and your nickname is chosen and ok, you can join a channel. Do this by typing /join #channelname.
  13. In this case, we joined the channel #chat by typing /join #chat. Then the following screen popped up:

  14.
To speak in the channel, just type in the lower box and hit return when you are satisified
with what you want to say. There is no / needed to just talk out loud in the channel.

  15. Any /whois queries you run will show up in the Server window like the following:

  16.
What the /whois information tells you is the persons' login name, their IP as well as their name. It also can tell
you what server they are logged in and how long they have been idle, or not doing anything.

  17. After you are done, simply click on Disconnect or type in /quit and you will disconnect from that specific Network. Click on File and then Exit to quit out of Pirch.
